Re: Desperate for football?
Do you have any games from the 90's and early 2000's on DVD?Originally posted by 56Parkies View PostI've been watching 3-4 Eskimo games a week the past month, going back from the 1950s through the early part of the 2000s. It keeps me (relatively) sane for now........
If you do- drop me a pm and I'd be happy to make a deal to get some from you.. Wanna show my youngest son proof that his old man really did play...

Re: Desperate for football?
I may be dreamin in technicolor here but would it be possible to somehow post video on this website so that if members chose to donate some of their footage from previous games that we would all get a chance to view it. Like I said I'm sure there would be many hurdles to climb from a technical, fianancial, and perhaps even legal point of view but I'm just throwing this idea against the wall to see if it would somehow stick. I know I would have loved to have watched some games especially over the winter. For example I've been wanting to view the 2005 GC for soemtime now but have been out of luck so far as ESPN classics are concerned. Anyways just thinking out loud...Originally posted by Jedrock43 View PostDo you have any games from the 90's and early 2000's on DVD?

Re: Desperate for football?
I have a ton of footage over the years, but in order for me to make copies for a player, I get permission from the league itself, and won't make a copy without it.Originally posted by adb View PostI may be dreamin in technicolor here but would it be possible to somehow post video on this website so that if members chose to donate some of their footage from previous games that we would all get a chance to view it. As for broadcast -- either on TV OR the Internet -- you'd need permission from both the CFL AND the original broadcaster. Without that, you face some serious legal issues...#PizStrong

Re: Desperate for football?
TSN should just release a DVD box set for each team at the end of every year. I would LOVE to be able to collect seasons of Eskimo football much like I would collect a TV show on DVD.
Or they could at least put the games up for sale on itunes again like they did for the 2009 season. I have that whole season on my hard drive and have seen each game probably 10 times lol.

Re: Desperate for football?
Making the recent games available on iTunes would seem a no-brainer.... So why aren't they available? I wonder if they just weren't big sellers, so since demand was low, they figured it wasn't worth the effort?#PizStrong

Re: Desperate for football?
If that's the case then you would think the CFL would be all for allowing fans to post video content on websites to drum up even more interest/support in the game. In fact if I was commisioner I'd be looking into making such content available for viewing on their website for free. You know what they say about publicity.Originally posted by 56Parkies View PostMaking the recent games available on iTunes would seem a no-brainer.... So why aren't they available? Re: Desperate for football?
I imagine they won't try it cause it would draw views away from TSN's on-demand service... and Bell-Media wouldn't like that!Originally posted by 56Parkies View PostMaking the recent games available on iTunes would seem a no-brainer.... We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Re: Desperate for football?
I'm sure if you produce your own content they would be all for it... if you're going just post content generated by TSN, then TSN won't be happen. TSN pays the league a lot of money for the rights, and in production costs... and with that they have a desire to control how their product is viewed. Whether you agree with their philosophy in that regards is irrelevant, they made it, they own it, they can do what they like with it. And if the CFL doesn't protect their right to do so, the CFL ain't gonna get as much money for their rights next time around.Originally posted by adb View PostIf that's the case then you would think the CFL would be all for allowing fans to post video content on websites to drum up even more interest/support in the game. From TSN's website:
How do I obtain a copy of a program or event that I saw on TSN?
Because of broadcast rights restrictions, TSN and its networks and affiliates cannot make or sell VHS or DVD copies of programs which air on the network. The same broadcast rights restrictions prevent TSN and its networks and affiliates from e-mailing or distributing video clips to individuals over the internet.

Re: Desperate for football?
With media distribution changing so much in recent years, it would be a good thing to bug the CFL & TSN to consider options with the new tv contract. They are missing an opportunity right now, I would think.Originally posted by Muley69 View PostBecause of broadcast rights restrictions, TSN and its networks and affiliates cannot make or sell VHS or DVD copies of programs which air on the network.
