Time to rethink the green helmets

I was just commenting on the Ottawa RedBlacks CFL thread that the old Rough Riders black helmet with white R was classic (and thinking they could use this again if they chose RedBlacks as the new team name). That got me thinking about last year's changes to the Esks uniforms. There was lots of discussion pro and con on Esksfans about the home and away jerseys, comparisons to Green Bay's collars, etc. But the most startling change for me was the green helmets.

Personally, I think they need to go. The Eskimos have had their current "gold" helmets, of one shade or another, since the mid-60s, with only minor changes to the double-E logo, face-mask colour and stripe combinations over the years. It's classic and should be the only helmet we use.

If they're burning those, they can toss in the green pants, white pants, and any of those gawd-awful yellow jerseys left around.

Collars are horrible... We seem to had more shoulder pads come through the jersey than any other team.. It seems to loose...
Id love our previous jersey with the current sleeve stripe.. Would be a great mish mash of the 2
But I would love to see a return to the white masks on the on the yellow lids.

Kind of like the green helmets, but if they were brought out every week they'd lose their charm.

I like both the green helmets and the yellow jerseys...I also believe that they should only be used occasionally like the 3rd jersey they used to have in hockey and would wear from time to time.

I like the green lids but I wouldn't mind if we only saw them on special occasions.

We've got our old classic home unis back finally. Still have not warmed up to those away jerseys though (which is really a shame as our classic whites were beautiful).

As long as we wear that hodge podge road jersey we may as well keep the green lids.

I would like to see some depth of colour to both helmets though (think of the gorgeous blue on the Giants helmets) through some more metallic fleck. Give our colors some pop instead of the flat colours that have looked like they don't match up with each other in certain light.

I agree. The green lids for really well with our current aways. They wore the aways with the yellow helmet in the preseason game and it didn't look too good IMO.

Honestly, as long as none of the following occur, we're all good:

1. white helmets
2. white jerseys + white pants
3. yellow/gold jerseys + yellow/gold pants
4. yellow/gold jerseys + white pants

Everything else is fine.
