Our identity has completely flipped from last season. Instead of setting the tone like last year, our D seems to feed off the momentum of our offence. When the O started to take over in the 3rd quarter last week, the D started playing their best football of the season. Durant only had 30ish yards passing in the 3rd. Unfortunately, they are an incredibly fragile unit right now so the McKnight special had them completely wilt until the epic OT stand.

It is paramount that our offence not have a 3rd straight slow start so our defence can feed off of that. I'm not expecting Medlock to hand us the game like Hajrulahejayjhbrjnkyffg did last year. Think it will be close.

Expecting a monster game for Blanco!

Certainly the beginnings of the seasons are reversed from last year. I thought that our defense actually slipped a bit in their performance as the season went on. Possibly they had just set themselves a standard impossible to maintain, or perhaps as teams got more film, they started to exploit more weaknesses. Conversely, I thought the offense started to improve as the season went on, and even started to drive things a little. Maybe that was the Reilly effect, but maybe more.

A long way to go...

This year more than any we could get a HUGE labor day boost as there are some sizable pieces that could shake loose and I believe that Hervey has left some cap room for (ie Grymes) How wicked would it be to have that kind of upgrade heading into the stretch run

Agreed though I think getting Matt O'Donnell for the last half of the season was criminally undervalued because of Reilly's return at the same time. No denying that MOD turned what was a good Oline into one of the best in the league.

I'lll admit I'm quite worried about this game... so many question marks and We get Harris, and if theres no pressure on Willy , even he can light us up.

As for the game...our Dline absolutely needs to get to Willy and disrupt him. There have been times they have been close but Willy is a QB who will pick us apart if we give him the chance to sit back there all day. As I mentioned previously...got to stop Harris to keep the Bombers in second and long. We have been pretty good thus far at run defense but going to be Hunt in the middle beside Sewell instead of McKinley. And we have had some turnovers defensively but still have a zero sitting in the interception column.

Offensively, get John White going early. Hope we look to stretch out the defense along the sidelines a bit more with Walker than we did last week. Hope MR comes out without the happy feet we saw early last week.

While our defense hasn't been great...we have more often than not played on a short field defensively. Need Shaw to have a stronger game punting and stay away from the damn turnovers. Doe was underwhelming in week 1 but I hopefully he can make a bit more of an impact.
