I don't think I've ever seen that before - a position coordinator also being a coach in a different area.

That's what happens when you gotta overpay to get a really good big name coach to commit to leaving the NFL to the CFL and signed for 4 years so we gotta get used to it ,I'd love to know Milanovich yearly salary ,it's gotta be pretty high in order to cut back on coaches ,hope this doesn't affect our team play

Not to mention that we should have more dollars available once Maas's salary comes off the books. That is unless they structured Scotts contract around that.

#Esks have put finishing touches on coaching staff for 2020 Adding Terry Eisler as RB coach and Kelly Jeffrey QB coach. Also DC Noel Thorpe now also DBs coach and Special Teams Coordinator AJ Gass now also LB coach.

I find it interesting that coordinators will overlap into other roles (Milanovich into ST; Gass into the defense). This should help perspectives when choosing backup roster players. We also have a RB coach (Eisler) that knows a little about special teams - perhaps that will aid us in finding a returner that can also do some good on offense.

Eisler will bring another set of qualified eyes to the ST's. Good hire.

Seems to me this group is going to coach as a team rather that strict individual roles, as long as they all get along and work well together, it can be a really good thing.

I see some flexibility on the staff.
Gass is a natural fit to also be positional coach for the LB group. He is well experienced LB at this level, and most of that positional group with play 2 ways and contribute on ST as well. So his relationship with them overlaps.

Gass will have lots of help on ST seemingly. Milanovich lists himself as an Assistant there, as well as Terry Eisler. Eisler has a lot of experience on ST - most recently was the Riders coordinator. Noel Thorpe also has a lot of experience coaching ST.

I’m hopefull that multiple special team coaches reflects a new serious approach to this element of play. There are several coaches on offence and defence focused on the different responsibilities of those 12 man units, why not apply that to special teams. Seems simple enough to be pure genius. 🦉

Maybe things have changed in the past year with the uncertainty, but Milanovich indicated he wasn’t in a rush to look to NFL opportunities when he came to Edmonton. I don’t see him going right now.
