I guess all those 1st and 2nd year players in addition to the free agent signings he made out of the US with players having no CFL experience had better pan out for him as I have the feeling that if they don't make the playoffs I think he might be gone. I just don't feel all warm and fuzzy about our defense or oline but its his neck on the line so its only right that he calls the shots.Originally posted by Hugoagogo View PostChris Jones is still fine with his roster.“RUN THE DANG BALL!" -Leigh Anne Tuohy character from the film The Blind Side
"Next time, take a case of Pil into the huddle. If you don't get a beer, get the hell off the field!" -New special teams coach for the Riders

His job is absolutely on the line this year. I would suggest that it could even be as critical as having a good first half of the season or he could be replaced.Originally posted by adb View Post

Personally I think Jones makes 90% of the decisions and Geroy does the paperwork.Originally posted by Esks4ever View PostI really wonder what Geroy and Jones do respectively as GM...How much lies on Geory's lap ?Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

I mean I wonder about that. I don't recall CJ spending a large percentage of the cap on any big time receiver in Sask the last time he was a GM and Simon was not a part of his management team. But perhaps I'm wrong about that and someone can correct me. The last 2 years the EE have basically unloaded the brinks truck for first Lawler and now Lewis. I don't see CJ (and apparently the rest of the CFL's individual team management personnel groups...just ask Tim White) overvaluing the position over a former receiver like Simon. But of course that's just conjecture on my part.Originally posted by Hugoagogo View Post

I know Simon was a huge part of the Lawler signing for sure, beyond that I can only guess. If I were in Jones's shoes I would have position budgets based on how I want to spend the cap and then release Simon on the parts of the club that are his area of expertise....aka receivers.Originally posted by adb View Post

Jones is the GM. Simon is the AGM. Would any GM give his assistant carte blanche to sign a high profile FA for whatever turned his crank? The GM and.AGM absolutely have to be on the same page heading into free agency. They have to be in agreement on who their priority targets are and what they are willing to pay for them. Maybe GS pushed for a high profile receiver but CJ had to set the budget for it.Originally posted by adb View Post

agreed, as a business owner this is exactly what I do. You have to give your employees some freedom but you also have to give them some guidelines to work within.Originally posted by Hammer24 View Post
