That Argos / Alouettes game Friday night was a fun one to watch. We need more of those!

For sure, was able to catch the last three quarters. Whoever scouts for the Argos we should hire fast. Both lines are good , plus a couple of Cdn backups for both. The D backfield they developed for the last two years is just outstanding. Can cover, hit hard , gang tackle and irritate the heck out of opponents. Always get an elbow or knee in when tackling.Originally posted by Hugoagogo View PostThat Argos / Alouettes game Friday night was a fun one to watch. We need more of those!
A couple of years ago CJ said Cody Fajardo wasn't a pro passer, or something like that. He sure would be a lot better than what we have trotted out this year. Likely cheaper, too. Of course this year Cody has a professional OC coach calling plays and designing the offense. If his O line was a bit better he might have won the game. To me, anyway, Maas looks a lot more relaxed than he did here or in Sask.

Was to be expected really. When he became coach here he was only a few years removed from dressing for games. Now that he's been on the sidelines as some form of coach for decade, naturally he's naturally growing into it. Never doubted he had the brain for the job, he just needed to get the emotions in check. Also likely a lot less pressure in Montreal than there was here.Originally posted by turftoe27 View Post

I was thinking about that as well, a lot of pressure here with him being an alum connected to some great recent Eskimo teams, also trying to follow up a Grey Cup winning HC in his rookie HCing year….Originally posted by bone View Post

I’ve always been a fan of Jason Maas, if you go back in this forum to 2019, you’ll find some lengthy debates between me and Q (who of course wanted him fired lol) in which I was advocating to stay the course with him. Ultimately though he might have needed a change of scenery to succeed.

I was in the same boat. I believed he could be a good coach but when he was fired, it was time.Originally posted by ben_the_eskimo View Post

Way back when Rick Campbell was a coordinator for us in 2011, talk began about being a worthy candidate for being our head coach. I really felt he would be in a better situation for his first HC outside of the city his dad became a legend. I felt similar about Maas starting off in the city he played/lived in. While, I think he was the best candidate available at the time to replace Jones when he left in 2015, I'm sure he would have felt a lot less pressure in another city to begin his head coaching career. Maas finished his stint in Edmonton with a 39-33 record, with six playoff game appearances (3-3) in four seasons. Funny how we'd love to be even close to that sort won-loss record now.Originally posted by ben_the_eskimo View Post

Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

He was walking right on Demski's (I think) heels chirping at him then he basically head-butted the back of Demski's helmet. He earned the penalty as much for stupidity as the action.Originally posted by tigerdar View Postanyone watchng the wpg-ott game? I'm no ottawa fan but the officiating this game has been awful and slanted towards wpg missing a hold and an offside...Last edited by Hammer24; 07-15-2023, 09:42 PM.

I don't disagree with that Hugo. However counter to that it seemed like there was always grumblings whenever somebody without "Edmonton Eskimos" on their resume was hired as a HC or assistant or to fill a football ops role. It seemed like the fanbase was always clamoring to see vacancies filled with candidates who had experienced the "Eskimo Way".Originally posted by Hugoagogo View Post
